Medical Weight Loss Management

Ozempic (Segmaglutide)

$299.0 per month

Ozempic (semaglutide) is a medication used primarily in the management of type 2 diabetes. However, it has also been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in weight management in adults with obesity or overweight who have at least one weight-related comorbidity (such as hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or dyslipidemia) and in conjunction with areduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

Semaglutide, the active ingredient in Ozempic, belongs to a class of drugs called glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists. GLP-1 is a hormone naturally produced in the body that helps regulate blood sugar levels and appetite.
In weight management, semaglutide works by mimicking the action of GLP-1. When injected subcutaneously, semaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors in the brain, leading to several effects that contribute to weight loss:

Reduced appetite: Semaglutide helps reduce feelings of hunger, which can lead to lower food intake.

Increased satiety: It promotes feelings of fullness or satiety after eating, helping individuals eat less.

Slower stomach emptying: Semaglutide slows down the emptying of the stomach, which can help control appetite and promote weight loss.

These effects, combined with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, can lead to significant weight loss in individuals with obesity or overweight.
